Nutritional Components of Mortality among Children of 1 to 3 Years in Pahariya Tribe of Rajmahal Hills
Jump To References Section
Abstract
The Rajmahal hilly area of Sahibganj district of Bihar abounds in two tribal populations: the Santals and the three sub-tribes of the Pahariyas (the Saurias, the Mals and the Kumarbhags). The Santals mostly dwell in the plains at the foot of the hills and the Pahariyas live on the top of the hillocks. While former tribe has been living happily and merrily with an average increase in the population, the Pahariyas are either facing imminent extinction or do not show the pace of growth as seen in adjoining santal population.Downloads
