Author Identification is identifying the author of a certain handwritten document. It can be performed with the help of a query that compares questioned document with the set of known documents and finding the most similar handwriting. Various features that can be used in the matching are: directions, curvatures, edge based directional features etc. The present paper describes the basics of Author identification and techniques used in the process.
